My Semester Reflection
I feel like freshman year has been a time of growth—both academic
and personal--lessons learned, and a time for trying new things. There were a
lot of important academic and social milestones as well. For example, I think
that I excelled in my classes and put in much more time and effort than ever
needed in high school. This year was much more academically difficult, but I would
say that I rose to the challenge, and even excelled! I was recommended to be a
learning assistant and given a opportunity as a lab assistant in the fall. I
earned the treasurer executive board position for next school year on the FGCU Women’s
Lacrosse team. I served as council delegate for Palmetto Hall’s area council. I
attended society of women engineers and wildlife club meetings. I also attended
lots of Honors College events and was a member of the manatee house. I dipped
my toe in the water of research with a graduate student. I met many amazing professors,
and I am excited to meet more. And I made lots of friends! Moving forward, I am
excited to be an engineering ambassador next year, have a job as a lab
assistant, and be treasure for the lacrosse team while also working hard
academically to excel in my coursework. My main takeaway from this year is that
I want to get involved in several opportunities, because I enjoy trying new
things and I already have a lot of pride for attending FGCU. Overall, I want to
make the most of my time as a student here at FGCU!
